Today was the start of my ER rotation. Well, come to find out that Wednesdays are lecture days, so after my tour of the ER I thought that passing the inmate in hand and foot cuffs would be the scariest part of the day.(cuz come on, how scary can lecture be?) The afternoon lecture was about snakes and the guy brought in 5 rattle snakes and he took them out and put then in the middle of the floor "so we could see their disposition." At that time I rather be 5 feet away from the inmate than 5 feet away from a rattle snake that probably wasn't super happy because he has been in a 5 gallon bucket for the last 3 hours and now has been dumped onto the carpet. Of course it was kind of cool at the same time. Plus the teacher was missing a digit, so he was legit. Hm...wonder what day 2 has in store?

Ah....the digit comment...still laughing! love it!! have fun!!
I also loved the digit rhyme. When we first moved to the desert, our realtor took great pains to assure us that the odds of getting bitten by a snake (/scorpion/javalina/eaten alive by a palo verde beetle) were extremely small. Then he added a long list of things we were supposed to do in the event that something like that happened, including killing the snake and bringing it into the ER. So, for the sake of you, the doctor, I hope people remember that they should kill the snakes before they bring them in. And, in my experience, shackled inmates are the best patients because they're on vacation and if they're rude, they have to go back to prison. Then again, I've never taken care of one in an emergency, good luck! Hopefully, I'll get an ER job this summer, then we'll be like ER twins.
